One of the most beautiful and accessible areas in Banff National Park. Just a short drive from the townsite of Banff.

Been working on my fear of landscapes lately, so you'll probably see a few more coming up lol!

8 X 10 acrylic on canvas.

Lovely work. I love how you portray the lake. I've been to Banff area before and it was really beautiful. But what's more important is that you portray the beauty here in this picture! Great job :)

I've never had the pleasure of going out and painting a landscape before. There's something very real when someone does that, and fear of landscape? This came out just lovely! You shouldn't fear, because the picture does still communicate. We are our own worst critics, afterall.

thank you! :)

this was painted from a photograph i took. i haven't done any painting 'plein aire' either.

the way my brain works doesn't suit landscapes well lol! i typically like one strong object (think still life or figures) to focus on when drawing or painting. landscapes don't have that. the focal point is often more abstract. if i can get my head around that, i'd be more comfortable with landscapes lol!

the other catch is that i'm partially red/green color blind, so i also have to find ways to deal with those colors, which are often predominant in a landscape. :)
